Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

EZSpeak (“we,” “us,” “our”) provides real-time voice captioning and translation for live rooms at ezspeak.io. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and this Privacy Policy.

This document is provided for general information and is not legal advice.

2. The service

  • EZSpeak enables live video/audio rooms and optional real-time captions and translation.
  • Captions/translation quality can vary based on speaker audio, accents, background noise, and network conditions.
  • You must be at least 18 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use EZSpeak.

3. Your account

  • Signing in uses Google OAuth. You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • You may stop using EZSpeak at any time. If you want account deletion, contact us (see Section 12).

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use EZSpeak for harassment, hate, or threats.
  • Share illegal content or violate others’ rights (privacy, copyright, etc.).
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, overload, or disrupt the Service.
  • Use EZSpeak to collect sensitive personal data from others without consent.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations or misuse.

5. Real-time audio and captions (important)

  • If you enable captions, your microphone audio is processed in real-time to generate live text and translation.
  • Audio is streamed to our captioning provider only while captions are on.
  • We do not record or store your audio, transcripts, or room chat logs.
  • Captions are ephemeral and disappear when the room closes or you leave.

Do not share health, financial, legal, or other sensitive information if you do not want it spoken aloud in the room.

6. Payments, plans, and cancellations

  • Paid plans are billed in advance monthly via Stripe.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the next billing date.
  • If a payment fails, your plan may downgrade or be cancelled.
  • Refunds: unless required by law, payments are non-refundable.

7. Intellectual property

  • The Service, branding, and software are owned by EZSpeak.
  • You keep ownership of anything you say or share in rooms. You grant us a limited right to process it only to provide the Service.

8. Disclaimers

  • EZSpeak is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
  • We don’t guarantee uninterrupted service or perfect translations.
  • EZSpeak is not intended for medical, legal, or emergency use.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, EZSpeak will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for losses arising from your use of the Service.

10. Privacy: what we collect

We collect and store only:

  • Your Google account email.
  • Your subscription plan and subscription end date.

We do not store room audio, video, transcripts, or chat logs.

11. Privacy: how we use data

  • To authenticate your account.
  • To manage subscriptions and plan access.
  • To provide customer support if you contact us.

We do not sell your data and do not use it for ads.

12. Privacy: third-party processors

EZSpeak relies on:

  • Google OAuth for sign-in.
  • LiveKit for WebRTC rooms and real-time data messages.
  • Deepgram for live speech-to-text processing.
  • Stripe for payments.
  • Vercel for hosting.

These providers may temporarily process data to deliver their services. Their own retention/logging policies apply.

13. Privacy: local device storage

EZSpeak stores small preference values in your browser (localStorage) such as:

  • Preferred language.
  • Optional display name.
  • Last visited EZSpeak URL for navigation.

This is not used for tracking or advertising and never leaves your device unless you clear it.

14. Privacy: retention & deletion

  • Account email + subscription info are kept while your account is active.
  • Live captions/translations are not stored after a room ends.
  • You may request deletion of your account data anytime.

15. Your rights

You may request to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccuracies.
  • Delete your account data.
  • Withdraw consent for processing.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update these Terms/Privacy from time to time. If changes are material, we’ll update the “Last updated” date here.
